Q: What is house call grooming?
A: House-call grooming is a luxury mobile service, bringing the salon into your home. This is typically done in the bathroom, den, garage ect. A nice quiet area where we can not be disturbed, in the house that it is not too cold or too hot
Q: What do I need to supply?
A: A space to work, towel, broom & dustpan, water/tub/shower, plug in for electricity. An extendable shower hose that can fully reach all of your dog
Q: How long does it take?
A: Usually there anywhere from 1-5 hours. Depending on behaviour, size/weight, coat condition, thickness, length and desired haircut
Q: Why does house-call grooming cost more?
A: With house-call grooming, I can only fit 1 - 2 dogs in a day vs a salon that can have 4+ in the same time frame. I have to factor in driving time, wear and tear on my equipment with transporting, set up and take down time, and much more wear and tear on my body from not having a lifted tub, table ect.
Q: Do you clean the hair?
A: I try to clean the best I can. I sweep the hair up, put the hair in a garbage bag then place it in your trash bin

Q: How often should I get my dog groomed?
A: Every 4-6 weeks is best. This helps the process be a quicker groom, making it easier on your pet. When I have to pre clip the hair because the coat is matted or too long this can result in added fees. Cutting a dirty coat dulls the blades much faster. Double coated breeds also benefit from getting bathed every 4-6 weeks. It helps release the undercoat which also helps them regulate body temperature better and lessens shedding in the house.
Q: How often should I brush my dog?
A: This depends on the breed and coat, though every day is ideal. First, spray the coat lightly with water or pet conditioner. Then brush throughly with a slicker. Followed by a fine tooth comb and this will insure your dog won't get matted or for double coated breeds impacted hair. Also for double coated breeds this helps regulate body temperature better and reduce shedding.
Q: How often should I get my pets nails trimmed?
A: Every 1-2 weeks is ideal to keep nails short. If you are trying to shorten the quick then they need to be Dremel every 2-3 days.
Q: Why don't you dematt?
A: I focus on providing a positive grooming experience and brushing out matts is painful. It is much easier on your pup to start over and keep up on grooming.
Q: Why don't you pluck my dogs ears?
A: Many vets are now recommending to now not pluck ears. The procedure can cause microscopic tears or inflammation, which can allow bacteria to cause an infection. It can also cause pain and discomfort. Being that I want to provide the most comfortable and relaxed grooming experience possible, I do not want to cause any pain or discomfort.
Q: Why don't you do anal glands?
A: Groomers in BC are only able to express anal glands externally. When you express externally you do not fully get all what is needed to come out and there is more risk of complications. Having a vet or vet tech do this properly is recommended.
